EGod.euPanca Srada and its parts. Naturally, every human being has an instinct to follow a belief. Beliefs of higher quality are called beliefs.

The belief in question can be useful for sustaining life which will provide physical and mental peace. In Sanskrit, this belief is called srad.

Then it was adopted into Old Javanese or Kawi to become Sraddha which means belief. What is meant by Sraddha, in this case, is a strong faith.

This Sraddha or belief can be used as motivation, guidance for life, and comfort in living a life that is sometimes very pleasant, sometimes very torturous.

Panca Sraddha section

Hindus are especially obliged to have sraddha or faith. There are five precepts that Hindus have to give. The five sraddhas are called Panca Sraddha which consists of: (Also read 13 Unknown Facts about Hinduism)

1. Brahman is the belief in the existence of God with all His attributes and omnipotence. God is also called Sang Hyang Widhi.

2. Atman is the belief in the existence of Brahman energy in every living being. Atman causes all beings to be born, live, develop and die. Atman is also the source of life for all beings on this Earth.

3. Karmaphala belief is in the existence of the law of karma. The law of karma is absolute towards all beings and everything in this world.

4. Punarbawa is the belief in repeated births according to the karma wasana.

5. Moksa’s belief is the existence of eternal happiness, the union of Atman with Brahman so that it is free from the influence of punarbawa and the law of karmaphala.

In Hinduism, God is called Brahman or Sang Hyang Widhi. Brahman is the source of everything in the world (Brahman Sarva Bhutesu).

Earth, air, air, vast oceans, plants, animals, and humans were actually creations of Brahman or Sang Hyang Widhi. Brahman is also all that. When Brahman performs the function of preserving the universe, he is given the title Deva Visnu.

In the end, to Brahman also everything in this world returns. The Brahman energy or power for this is called the pralina event. Brahman when functioning as a pralina was given the title Deva Siva.

Apart from the five basic beliefs that Hindus must-have, one of the Vedic Scriptures, namely the Bhagavadgita which is known as the Fifth Veda (Pancama Veda), also requires Hindus to believe in the existence of Deva, Bhatara, and Avatara.
